Pharmacy School Orientation!

Less than a week after graduation, mom and I hit the road for Nashville! Had to explore the town, take part in Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy orientation, and take on the daunting task of finding a place to live.

We left San Antonio, and began to travel up I-35 towards Dallas. We made a Czech Stop in West, TX (of course), for our kolaches and coffee (which only totaled about $3.50 - God bless those Czechs), when we were informed by some random lady that "oh hey - do you know anything about the tornado near Dallas?"

Um. What?

We were totally oblivious standing there in our kolache-stuper. Typical.

So we braved LOTS of rain, and eventually made it to Sulphur Springs, TX to stay the night at a Holiday Inn Express (which, my mom will tell you, was the nicest Holiday Inn ever). Well actually, we only stayed about 4 and a half hours. You know, to nap. The front desk guy was really nice and sent us on our way the next morning with some warm cinnamon rolls.

We drove awhile longer to make a coffee stop in Texarkana (where the McDonalds employee asked for my phone number - which I have to boast about, because I think it's hilarious and flattering).

We finally made it! We stayed with The Govin's in Franklin - they're so great. Love them. We stayed for a few days. Orientation was amazing (I knew from interview day that God was doing some amazing things there).

I had a classmate, Marina, approach me toward the end of orientation day and we talked about looking for a 2 bedroom apartment together. Mom and I met her parents the next day, and we all felt really good about it. It was a relief to be able to look forward to sharing the costs of everything, and also have a built-in study buddy.

Mom and I had too much fun. We took on tornados and apartment hunting (mom drove all by herself around a foreign city while I was in orientation - so proud of her!). It was a very successful trip, indeed.

Love this lady
